About HubL

We believe in the power of learning English to help people integrate more quickly into the local community, improving economic opportunities and overall wellbeing.

That's why we provide an independent, single point of contact to support asylum seekers, refugees and migrants to access English classes according to their individual needs.

HubL language assessments take place regularly at community hubs and libraries throughout Norwich. They’re free for everyone, regardless of income or immigration status.

Everyone in the HubL Team has extensive experience working for major ESOL providers, and in the community, as teachers, assessors and managers.

We’re here to help with every step of your journey.

Our Mission

We are an impartial, not for profit hub that helps refugees, asylum seekers and migrants access the right English language classes for them. We work closely with statutory and voluntary providers in the locality.

We support any non-native English speaker who is looking to improve their English. We offer a space for a professional initial assessment of English which is recognised by local ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) class providers, followed by unbiased signposting to appropriate classes for the levels and needs of learners. This can include help with enrolment in classes, and may extend to additional support.

How HubL Can Help You

When you arrive in the UK, one of the first things many people want to do is access English classes to improve your communication abilities, helping you to find work and be able to feel more at home.

HubL helps you achieve your English language learning goals faster, taking advantage of our local knowledge of class providers and enrolment processes.

The Process

Determining your level of English and receiving a certificate is a quick and simple process:

  1. Attend your assessment, where we assess your initial level of English and provide you with a certificate of your level.

  2. We’ll show you the courses most suited to your level of English and personal circumstances, and you choose which course you want to enrol on by viewing our providers page.

  3. HubL can provide help with course enrolment, and any further support with access to English classes where needed.

We’re here to help you start your new life in the UK as smoothly as possible and will try to help you as much as we can. If we don’t know the answer to a question, we will help you find someone who does.
